Almasabrosa organises bachata courses in Firenze.
In the Santo Domingo of the early 1920s, the term bachata referred to a type of social gathering. The word bachata, according to Fernando Ortiz, is a synonym for fun and celebration.
The bachata of its origins had no figures; it was a dance in which the man and the woman remained embraced for the entire length of the song, swaying and performing a provocative hip movement on the fourth musical beat. In the 1980s, the existence of two rhythmic variants of bachata emerged, one calm and the other faster. In recent times bachata has given rise to “fusion” genres, such as bachatango, a genre that blends the rhythm of bachata with the instruments of tango, and bachatón, which blends with the reggaetón genre.
In the Almasabrosa bachata courses, after giving the student the basics of the steps and movements needed to dance in a social setting right away, we explore the various interpretations in greater depth.
Dominican bachata involves a dance more faithful to its origins, with very few figures and movement almost always on the spot; a more modern interpretation involves a dance rich in figures, often borrowed from salsa or merengue, which make the dance very choreographic.
During the course we provide useful elements for dancing both styles, so as to tackle variations and virtuosity both in the individual movements and steps and in the leading of the partner dance.
During the year, specific classes (workshops) are organised.
